About Hudson Country Veteran Affairs
The Office of Veterans Affairs works to improve the quality of life of Veterans and their families residing in Hudson County. OVA provides information and referral services and advocates on behalf of Veterans in need of assistance. The Office coordinates a number of recognition events each year to honor and celebrate the many contributions Hudson County Veterans have made to this great country. These ceremonies include: Memorial Day, Veterans Day and the Pearl Harbor Remembrance Ceremony. These ceremonies have been attended by not only our beloved Veterans but the future of our Armed Forces, the JROTC and the Sea Cadets.
The Office also provides funding for qualified indigent deceased veterans, assists with burials in Veterans cemeteries and attains government headstones to ensure a proper and dignified burial. Our office has also taken part in the NJ Mission of Honor which buries unclaimed Veterans from all conflicts and will continue to do so in the future.
The Hudson County Clerk’s Office assists Veterans with a peddler’s license as well as Hudson County Discount cards, which provides a 10% discount at participating stores countywide.
The County Register records Veterans discharge papers, DD214, to ensure easy access for future use.
If you would like to participate in an upcoming ceremony, or learn more about our services, please contact: JoAnn Northgrave 201-369-3430 or jnorthgrave@hcnj.us
