About New Jersey State Elks Veterans Committee
So as long as there are veterans, the New Jersey State Elks will never forget them
The NJ State Elks National Veterans Service Commission is an all volunteer organization who helps veterans across the state of New Jersey. As of December 2022, we have helped 2000 veterans with different requests. Through our relationships with HUD VASH and other Veteran Service Organizations, we help homeless veterans who are moving into new apartments with a Welcome Home Kit (housewares) and furniture to help make their new house feel like a home. We have also helped with hotel rooms when needed along with car repairs, household bills, and other miscellaneous requests such as clothes and food.
Eligibility Requirements:
- A referral letter from the veterans case manager which describes what is needed, the contact information for the veteran, along with the DD214 that includes the bottom portion of the document for new versions.
- Our eligibility requirements are that the veteran must of served at least one year active duty with an honorable discharge. We will accept referrals for veterans who served less than one year or have a discharge status that is not “honorable” but the letter must explain why time served was less than a year or a brief explanation of why the veteran was discharged with the status received.
