NJ SHARES provides temporary relief for New Jersey residents’ energy, telephone, broadband (internet) and water utility bills in times of need.

What are the limits on grants to each individual?

New Jersey SHARES can assist with up to $700 for the heating source (natural gas) and up to $700 for electric service, or up to $700 for electrically heated homes. New Jersey SHARES grants, along with good faith payments, and payment arrangements need to either maintain or restore service in order to be approved.

Who determines eligibility for grants?

New Jersey SHARES partners with more than 250 community based and government agencies operating out of more than 300 sites. These agencies process grant applications which are reviewed for eligibility by our New Jersey SHARES staff. Eligibility for a New Jersey SHARES grant is based upon guidelines set by the New Jersey SHARES Board of Directors .
